Hard of Hearing (Photo Art)

In these images, we witness the tireless efforts of working animals, whose lives are often defined by relentless labor and sacrifice. To bring awareness to their frequently overlooked emotional states, I have included 'hard of hearing' subtitles with sound descriptions such as "whaling," "grunting," and other vocalizations. These captions are not just translations of sounds but reflections of the emotions these animals express—emotions that are frequently ignored or dismissed by humans. The plaintive whaling of a burdened, distressed, weary, or anguished cry of an animal—they all tell a story of resilience, pain, and unacknowledged suffering. By including these subtitles, I aim to bridge the gap between human perception and animal reality. I invite the viewer not only to see their efforts but to listen with empathy to the emotions behind their sounds. It is a reminder that the language of emotion transcends species, and it is our responsibility to recognize and respect the feelings of these sentient beings who share our world.
